What does our conference aim to achieve?
Develop insight and self-reflection at our annual conference. This two-day conference allows you to establish the foundations of mind management in areas that matter to your own life, helping you to attain confidence in; life events, emotions, and leadership.
Each workshop has been designed by Prof Steve Peters and the Chimp Management Mentors to provide you with fundamental neuroscience, real-life insights, and practical takeaway skills to apply.
To help you personalise your development each attendee will have the freedom to select the two themes that best resonate with their personal goals. Each theme will include three engaging workshops to help you gain insight into how your mind works and practical skills to optimise psychological well-being and performance.

Managing Significant Events
Workshop 1
Processing an event
How does our mind process an event?
We each experience a combination of trivial and significant life events, and the different part of our mind responds in distinct ways, communicating with their own unique language. This session will provide insights into how our Chimp and Human work hand in hand to process these experiences and how these perspectives differ.
Workshop 2
Removing apparent scars
How can we process and manage past events?
This session will look at the difference between ghost emotions and apparent scars and how to remove them, recognising that our Chimp and Human brains process events differently. We will examine the choices open to you, look at how to process events and consider what you can learn from events to your advantage. We will also reflect on how to accept and manage scars, if unable to remove them.
Workshop 3
Preventing emotional scars
How can we learn to accept the things in our life?
Keeping things in perspective and developing skills of acceptance allows us to prevent emotional scars from occurring. This session will explore when emotional scars may occur and consider examples of situations where scars could be avoided. We will recap on processing skills and explore how to make effective emotional plans to deal with life challenges.
Communicating via Emotions
Workshop 1
Why logic isn’t always the best
Can we always trust our own logic?
As well as being hijacked by our Chimps, our Human logic can also be a red herring. This workshop explores why logic may not always be the best answer and how our logical brains can try to fill in facts where they may not exist. We will learn how our logic is influenced by our emotions and why the music of communication is so important.
Workshop 2
Learning emotional language
How can we communicate with the Chimp?
Learning to communicate through emotion is an essential skill that can provide the foundations for preventing and managing a Chimp hijack in yourself and others. This session explores what happens during a Chimp hijack and demonstrates strategies to understand and manage the language that can promote this in yourself and others.
Workshop 3
Emotional language skills in action
How can we form an emotional plan?
In this session, we will practice putting emotional language skills into action in real-life situations and gain insights into the benefits of doing this. We will practice expanding our emotional vocabulary. We will also consider how to form emotional plans alongside practical plans.
Team Management Insights
Workshop 1
Why collaboration can falter and how to prevent this
What are the benefits of developing a collaborative team?
Collaboration can increase productivity, improve morale, and develop skills across the team. This workshop will analyse why collaboration can sometimes falter and explore ways to prevent this from happening.
Workshop 2
Recognising and constructively managing dominance drives
What are our drives and how do they influence us?
Understanding how our drives influence how we think, feel and behave allows us to apply these in helpful ways. This workshop’s main aim is to recognise how dominance can be linked with other drives and develop skills to nurture and constructively manage our dominance to get the best out of ourselves and others.
Workshop 3
Sheep, lions or chameleons? What type of team are you developing?
How can we understand the personalities of our team?
Reflecting on what type of outcomes you are hoping to achieve as a team enables you to understand whether the team members you are developing are helping or hindering your chances of success. Although characteristics are on a spectrum, this session will look at three general types of individuals and how we can develop insights into these personalities to nurture your team.
