Leonie is a BASES accredited Sport Scientist and has been providing applied psychology support to athletes, coaches and teams for 10 years to help manage their emotions and maximise their enjoyment and potential. At Chimp Management Leonie works predominantly in Olympic sport, supporting riders on the World Class Programme at British Equestrian Federation on their journey towards Tokyo 2020. Leonie also works with University of Bristol Sport as a Performance Psychologist.
Leonie also currently provides consultancy to a number of individual clients from grass roots to elite level, across a broad variety of sports including athletics, gymnastics, equestrian, hockey, netball and golf and also outside of sport to improve quality of life.
Leonie regularly delivers presentations and facilitates workshops for clients in sport, corporate and education settings. Recent examples of this work includes British Cycling, Sport Scotland, Isle of Man Sport, Royal Ballet School, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Police Now. Leonie is an accredited advisor for UK Anti-Doping and also volunteers as a befriender for First Steps, a charity offering hope, opportunities and choices for lives affected by eating disorders.
Prior to working for Chimp Management, Leonie spent 7 years working for England Athletics, including 3 years in the role of Coach Development Manager leading on national coach development projects and initiatives. Leonie also spent 1 year as a lecturer in Sport Development and Applied Sport Psychology at the University of Northampton.
