Psychological Skills Mentor
Ben has used the Chimp Model to offer psychological support and training within schools and colleges through facilitating workshops and presentations to students and teachers across the country.
Ben is a warm and considerate person, committed to getting the best out of people and is forever excited to learn and to help others.
A background of a MSc level education within the area of sport and exercise psychology, published research and numerous years of applied experience (most notably working in the USA with various Olympic and Paralympic athletes), has led to Ben becoming part of Professor Steve Peters’ team at Chimp Management Ltd.
Ben is a British Psychological Society (BPS) member status psychologist in elite sport and to date has effectively applied the principles of Professor Peters’ mind management model within various Olympic sports, Premiership football, Nissan GT Motor racing, elite international equestrian, and currently on the PGA European tour with 3 professional golfers, one of which is a former world number 1 golfer. Ben specialises in supporting athletes to develop resilience and optimally perform in difficult environments whilst under pressure.
Outside of sport Ben has worked regularly within the education sector working with students and teachers in helping them to better understand and manage their minds in order to achieve both personal and professional success and fulfilment. Other notable areas include work carried out with various emergency service teams, and Ben is also currently part of a team delivering a bespoke mentoring and team development program within a multinational investment bank.
Ben is extremely supportive and very professional. The work that we have been doing has really helped me progress in and outside of sport, and has provided me with great insight and perspective on mind management during competition and in daily life.
Thanks to Ben Davies for delivering a really interesting and stimulating day. The fact that we had to look at ourselves first before considering the implications of the chimp model for use with primary age children was just what we were looking for. Regular opportunities to reflect on different aspects of the model, tied in with Ben’s interesting and friendly
way of presenting made it an enjoyable learning day.
The feedback has been really positive and enthusiastic from the delegates. Our next step for the schools is to plan the way ahead in implementing some of the ideas and strategies we learned yesterday for ourselves, other therefore in turn have a positive impact on our young learners.
I would fully recommend the day for educators, not only for the benefits of the children but also personal development and well being.
