Psychological Skills Mentor Adam Wright has supported “Wesley’s Community Cafe and Larder” charity for six months. He recently visited the Wesley’s team to deliver a one-hour introduction to The Chimp Model and hand over a Chimp Management charitable donation of £500 to help their amazing work.
This £500 donation will provide around 500 freshly prepared meals to those within the community who received the much-needed support from the charity.
“ It was great to see all the work that everyone at Wesley’s does, the variety of people that access the service and how eager everyone was to learn about the Chimp Model” – Adam Wright
The charity provides a vital service to help and improve the lives of local people in need. The cafe creates a safe and welcoming place for local people to meet, have a substantial meal, or have a cup of tea and a chat. People that have used the cafe for its support have also gone to become volunteers themselves and developed cookery and other skills to help improve their employability.
“ Wesley’s began about 6 years ago helping people to cook who could not cook. We made fresh soup. Now we serve up to 200 people per week through our Community Cafe with food and refreshments, cooked by people who don’t get paid, we have 35 people who volunteer on a weekly basis to keep Wesley’s going. Wesley’s could only survive with the help of people and organisations such as Chimp Management, without whom we would still be serving “one pan of Soup”. – Paul Caddy
About Wesley’s Community Cafe and Larder:
Wesley’s Community Cafe and Larder is a safe place for people of the local community to come together, socialise with friends, meet new people, and enjoy good quality nutritious food for free. They collect good quality food that would normally not be used by local supermarkets to redistribute to our local community from the larder or to utilise within Wesley’s kitchen and prepare meals from that. Everyone is welcome for cake and a cuppa or three-course meal. One of their aims is also to combat loneliness. They also do outreach work with their partners teaching people and children how to cook affordable meals.
