Chris is a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council, a chartered psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a published researcher. Chris is passionate about applying research in practice to empower people to live healthy, fulfilling and successful personal and professional lives.

Prior to joining Chimp Management, Chris was a forensic psychologist working in the criminal justice, security and health sectors. He had various roles including being a clinical and academic supervisor, consultant, facilitator, practitioner, researcher and trainer. As a senior manager, he designed, developed and implemented psychologically-informed intervention programmes across His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service. Chris also established and ran his own company providing specialist psychological and consultancy services to governmental and non-governmental organisations and agencies, nationally and internationally (including in Africa, Asia and Europe).

His clients included senior leaders, middle managers, front-line staff and service users – many with challenging life experiences and complex needs. Chris’s style is motivational, collaborative, empathic, probing and responsive to the unique identity of every person or organisation. He has specialised in motivating change, helping people to more effectively manage their thoughts, feelings and behaviour and to develop healthy identities and navigate identity change.

A key truth he holds is that however challenging people’s life circumstances are, or have been, everyone has the potential to improve their lives and the lives of others. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, watching football, walking in the Peak District with his family (including Smudge the dog) and reading anything!
